Work & study

Work & study.

Practical ways to reduce friction in workplaces, colleges, universities and other environments where attention has to coexist with deadlines, information and interruptions.

Design the environment

There is no single ADHD-friendly workspace. Some people need quiet; others regulate attention better with movement or background sound. The useful question is what environment makes the intended task easiest to return to.

Make work observable

Long projects benefit from visible milestones, written ownership and regular checkpoints. This is useful project management generally and can be particularly helpful where working memory and time estimation are unreliable.

Meetings and learning

  • Send agendas before meetings where possible.
  • Capture actions in writing.
  • Allow movement without treating it as disengagement.
  • Use captions, recordings or notes when appropriate.
  • Break long learning blocks with active tasks and pauses.
